The center stand is a nice option, but it can't be used by those of us who need to lower the bike.

Lowering the bike does make it more difficult to use the stand but not impossible.  There is a further option of having the centre stand itself shortened.  Not a difficult job for any engineering shop

I've tried all 3 methods with various Tigers, the ABBA & paddock stands always felt a little dodgy with one person use, the center stand is the easiest by far.
Previous bikes James 197, BSA C15T, C15 SS80, 68 Bonneville, .....large gap...TY250, Sprite 250, B40 trials, Transalp, Tiger 885i, Tiger 955i, Thunderbird Sport, Tiger 1050, Thunderbird Sport, Tiger 800, Triumph TR5T ????? still pondering what's next!!!

Mine's lowered an 1" I used the long center stand.  It's fairly easy to get up on the stand if I grab the passenger peg support bar.  If you have trouble, run the rear wheel up on a 2 x 4

Just to be clear ... Are you saying that the standard center stand will bolt up, without additional mods, to a Low model? Specifically to an 18 Tiger 800XRx Low?
I do have machine shop contacts where I can shorten the length of the stand if needed.

Hey, thanks. Awesome piece but I really need a center-stand for daily chain inspections on my multi-day and -week trips
