Zoomed in and had a closer look. Appears that the oil is delivered (inboard) to the pad underneath the chain, not to the top of the chain. Having said that, the chain does seem to be pretty dry and not sure how long the pad will last. Still, an interesting take on the idea. Would like to see some more pics from different angles.
Cheers,
Dave

back to the OT :

I lube about every second tank stop with drylube, first chain lasted about 35,000 kms so I am not complaining
Live is too short to drink bad wine or to ride bad bikes.

Usually every weekend after commuting 280'ish miles during the week. I also use Putoline ceramic chain wax. Original chain lasted 23k miles. Second chain and sprockets only last 7k miles as I was using an oiler. Back to the ceramic wax on my third chain and so far so good - already at 6k miles and only had to adjust once.

You must be looking at a different photo than I am then. The photo I linked to above quite clearly shows the oil being applied to the outside of the chain.

Interesting difference.  How often do you clean your chain?

I usually wipe it don't before reapplying lube. I don't clean it properly with WD-40 or paraffin or anything. But that was the case for all my chains.
