Title: Is this the best registration plate ever?
Post by: restandplay on January 02, 2019, 07:20:04 PM
Hi
My registration number is TR10 XCX which I think is really good.  Trio obviously for a three cylinder engine and XCX being the model.  Any others got something better?

Not bike related, but the best number plate I saw belonged to Steve Carr of Autofarm (Porsche specialist company).
He owned a Porsche 911 SC, and the number plate was 911 SC.
That was pretty hard to beat.

A fellow member of the, now gone BOC (Bonneville Owners Club) Yahoo forum probably still has (decades on) possession of MYT140E on his Triumph T140E Bonneville.  :017:

Dual purpose mate. An example of British ingenuity.  :002:

I'm not a fan of personalised plates (better things to spend cash on, but each to their own), but the best I ever saw was about ten years ago, on a not current at the time, but very well maintained Rolls Royce, looked mint. Cruising down the M40 at 60mph, nothing to prove, showing a plate that read OLD GOLD. I'm not sure quite how it was made up, letters/numbers, but it did put a smile on me :)

I've got " T19 XCA " on retention, just ain't got round to changing it over, but my current reg ends in " XAC " I chose my reg when I bought it new, wasn't much to chose from at time,  I don't have a middle name but there wasn't any for my initials

over here in Germany the rules for personalised number plates are stricter than in then UK:
the first letters (1 up to 3) show the disctrict where the bike is registered that is fixed, you cannot change that. Clever system: I can see from the plate where the rider or driver comes from.

This district code is followed by two letters and then by a number up to four digits (Motorcycles up to two digits). You can chose the letters and those digits, in most districts online and they charge something like 15 Euros for your "vanity" plate. I am very happy to have my year of birth on the Bobber's plate preceded by the two initials of my surname (I have that on every vehicle I own including the trailer). For whatever reason I had chosen "81" for the Tiger because I liked the number until someone told me this is a secret code for the Hell's Angels (8 for H and 1 for A due to the alphabeth). But then: everyone can see it is not a HD so I guess no one really thinks I am with that crowd.
