Title: ignition key help

Hi need some advice was the knowledgeable people on here  :037:

I only have one key for the ignition, whilst this is working fine and is 100% my worry is not having a spare key should I damage it or lose it, so wheres the best place to get a new transponder key (as a spare)

Triumph dealer. They have to code it to the immobiliser.

I believe a good locksmith can do it also.
May be worth a phone call.

I agree, a good locksmith (http://www.birminghamlocksmiths24h.co.uk/) can do it for you at a decent price.

I had to buy a blank from Triumph dealer (they don't always have the blank you need so they may have to order in) then go and get the key cut and then return to the Triumph dealer for them to program the key

The onbly place you can get a key blank with a transponder is from a Triumph dealer. depednign on your dealer they may want to supply you a cut key OR a blank. do your own research nht costs and options

You can get a key blank from a good quality locksmith but when cut will only open pannoiers that are swuited to the igniition.
You will be able to start the bike if the transponder is in close proximity to the ignition lock. IE the transponder is not an electrical contact its a form of radio interrlock.

I doubt it's the keyboard that need replacement, it's Matts' fingers that need adjustment.🤞

I have had keys made  before. This is the procedure :-

Go to dealer with the 4 numbers off the tag supplied when you got bike

Give them your reg

They search on their Triumph database and order the key ( already cut)

Go back ( with bike 😀) and they will do the magic work on their pc to activate the keys ( you have to buy 2)

And don't forget to tell them to update your map 😜

I think price was about £85 including the 1/2 hour labour

So stuff went out for pounds or what? Did not know brexit was that severe.
