Title: T800 headlight bulb (again)
Post by: matt748 on September 29, 2020, 10:52:29 AM
Morning,
Firstly sorry, as I know this has been covered quite a lot. Iíve been searching for an hour on here and the web.

I want to buy spare / replacement halogen bulbs for my 2015 XRX. The current bulbs IMO give good night performance, and have been in for as long as Iíve had the bike (3years) and could even be OE (5years) so durability is excellent and something Iím looking to replicate.

I know (think) itís H4 bulbs I need, but theres so much out there! I donít want to go LED although a slightly less yellow bulb to more closely match the fogs would be a bonus.
Does anyone know who make the OE bulbs?
So in summary, Iím after a durable replacement, with a slightly whiter look if possible.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I fitted these - https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/12342XVBW/x-tremevision-moto-motorcycle-headlights.
just after I bought the bike new in October 2017 - so going on 3 years and over 11000 miles later and still going - (One will immediately blow now)
They did make a difference so I am happy with them and will fit the same again when one goes, can't recall where I got mine from, may have been Amazon or may have been powerbulbs.com ( just looked  they are doing a 20% first time discount and free shipping over £15)

Not saying they will suit everyone but they do me.

The oem fitment was Osram in mine.  H4 dual filament.

I use Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited H4 on my XR.

A little whiter than the standard Osram bulbs.
Been using them for more than a year and am happy with them.

I have not gone the LED route yet.

So hereís my update. Went for Philips X-tremeVision, on sale at euro car parts for £23.02
Photo shows OE on the left, new on right. Theyíre definitely whiter, have a tinge of blue and are closer in whiteness to the LED fogs.

Happy so far.

Donít forget to inform your insurance company about the upgrade!!! Yes, brighter light, more illumination means you can ride faster at night so a greater chance of accident. Soon theyíll want to know if you polish your boots as thereíll be less drag!! :015:
