Title: Bar Muffs
Post by: Dazcoates on November 04, 2020, 09:23:51 AM
With the mornings turning chilly ( I'm not getting any younger)
Has anyone fitted handlebar muffs , I have 800 XRT with hand guards so must be big enough to fit over these.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Oh yes, oxford. and they are great especially with heated grips! I'll put a photo on later!
P.S. To those who scoff, yes it's ugly, look in the mirror!  it's my bike, they're my warm hands

I've had these muffs for probably 10 years or more on  different bikes. I don't think they have a model name. Photos are from a trip to Norway last year and North Yorkshire this February.
I've also fitted them inside the hand guards, but prefer them on the outside. DRLs are wired via the trusty horn trick!

N.B. Pictures are too big apparently, so if you look in the gallery you'll see them there!

I've got a pair of Givis which fit over handguards. TM-421 is the model number.

Show us some pics after installation, and let us know how installation was, with the fog light and heated grips switches, etc

I've used Tucano Urbano 319 handlebar muffs for years on both the Tiger and before on my 1150GS, great muffs, easy to fit and have a set for sale if interested

Just an update for anyone bothered,  been using the Givi muffs now for a while , coldest temp so far has been -4'c .
With the heated grips I'm still wearing my thin summer gloves. These have got to be one of the best things I've fitted to a bike.
No problems using any of the controls or switches either.  :152:

I just got a set of Givi TM-421ís as well, and echo Dazí opinions! Fantastic and feel like theyíre made to measure even with the auxiliary controls.

I have Barkbusters VPS on the bike and they fit nicely over the top, even with the extension lips installed.

My friend had some Oxford Super Muffs and they tore on his second use. He replaced with the Giviís and is equally satisfied.

I have the Oxford muffs and they are very comfortable.  A hole had to be made so that the mirrors can remain installed but thatís not a problem.  Very toasty with heated grips.

I've been using a pair of the tucano urbano for a few years.

I found that the ones that don't have the material to go up the mirror stalk land up having quite a draft which makes them quite a lot less effective on really cold days.

Are these the muffs you have Pusser ?

Thinking of biting the bullet on muffs. Years ago I got some for my first bike - YBR125. Didnt like them as it ruined the style of the bike and affected aerodynamics :008:  but those or the Tucano look decent.
