Chain rubbing strip. Is it shot?

Yes! I replaced mine a little early, but that has given all it was supposed to.

Have a look at the bottom of the rubbing strip, that tends to wear more than the top, but even the top is about at the end of it's service life.

Mine was replaced at the 6k ml service, better safe than the other thing....

Don't worry so much about the centre section, it is the front edges you really need to check. If you let the front wear too much you can end up with the chain wearing into the swingarm.

Thank you all for your answers. Double checked and i am ordering a replacement strip. Too bad world of triumph wants 45 quid to post to this part of the world (still within Europe). Anyway will find one elsewhere.

I do not want to sell my bike. After nearly 5 years i love it. But even if i wanted to sell i would think twice because of this forum!

I second Steve P's comments. changed my original for the new one when I got excessive wear on the front edges of the rubbing strip. mind you this was at 30K. and after postings started to appear about swing arm wear. The later type has a top and bottom shock insert, I think this is to reduce the chance of wear on the lower front of the swing arm. Done over 10k on the new one with no sign of any excessive wear.
